Lodestone welcomes Hall’s Group to its growing list of solar partnerships

MEDIA RELEASE:

Lodestone Energy, New Zealand’s leading solar-based generator-retailer, has signed a long-term agreement with New Zealand’s leading nationwide specialists in cold chain logistics, Hall’s Group Limited.

Hall’s has committed to Lodestone’s innovative solar contract arrangement, a market-leading electricity plan that enables customers to offset their annual consumption with fully certified, renewable electricity generated by Lodestone’s solar farms.

The electricity supplied to Hall’s facilities will ultimately be backed by Lodestone’s recently commissioned Whitianga solar farm in the Coromandel, its Clandeboye solar farm in Canterbury, currently under construction and a soon to be announced new solar farm.

Gary Holden, Managing Director of Lodestone Energy, says this partnership reinforces the expanding demand from New Zealand businesses for affordable, low-carbon electricity with predictable, long-term pricing.

“We are so pleased to add Hall’s to our growing list of commercial customers seeking to become ‘net zero’. They are an important part of the national food supply chain, and ensuring they have low cost power well into the future is a fantastic outcome. From our first discussions, we discovered we share the same vision for the role of renewable energy in the New Zealand economy; and their commitment enables Lodestone to build more and accelerate the transition to a more sustainable electricity market,” says Holden.

Hall’s, which operates a large nationwide refrigerated transport and storage network supporting the food and beverage sector, says the deal aligns with its long-term goals to build a more sustainable and cost effective logistics network.

“We’re proud to be part of a future-focused energy solution that is making a difference and supports our customers to deliver on their carbon reduction goals,” says Gareth McFarlane, Hall’s CEO.

“Reliable, certified renewable electricity through Lodestone’s virtual solar model is a smart choice for our business and a meaningful step in supporting New Zealand’s low-emissions future.”

Lodestone is developing a nationwide portfolio of solar farms to support Aotearoa’s electrification. The business is currently operating and developing a portfolio of over 1,000 GWh of solar generation to support commercial customers and communities across the country.
